Job description

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is filling multiple firefighter and dispatch positions for the 2025 field season. The start dates for these positions will be April 20, 2025, to June 15, 2025, and will last approximately 6 months. These are temporary positions, not to exceed 1039 hours. When applying, you must select Trout Lake, Amboy, Randle, or Vancouver as a duty location to be considered. It is recommended to select location negotiable as well.

The purpose of the position is wildland fire suppression/management/control, as a firefighter on an engine or hand crew. Other wildland fire-related duties might involve fire prevention, patrol, detection, or prescribed burning. The incumbent will also be involved with the maintenance and repair of firefighting tools, equipment, and facilities and will receive firefighting training.

Dispatchers perform the full range of standardized support duties commonly found in the work area, such as receiving, filling, and tracking resource requests for fire and other emergency incidents. They follow detailed procedures in initiating requests to higher organizational levels for additional resources as needed.
