Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care ( Toronto area ) is hiring a Part-Time Food Services Worker to assist with meals delivery, serving and kitchen duties in a supportive senior care environment.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, portioning, dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and following safety protocols. Qualified applicants have Food Service Worker training, a Food Handler certificate, and the ability to work days, evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or be enrolled in a recognized Food Service Worker program.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Some experience in the food services industry.
• Ability to lift heavy industrial size food trays, pots and pans.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written English; Chinese is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, delivers and serves meals according to client preference, prescribed portion sizes and diet order in an accurate, timely, orderly and safe manner.
• Prepares and delivers nourishment and special orders according to diet order and client preferences.
• Wraps, date-labels, and stores food items.
• Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, dishware and cooking equipment.
• Cleans production area, stove, refrigeration area, dish and pot washing areas, dining room and servery and maintains them in a safe, clean and organized condition.
• Performs regular cleaning duties including floor cleaning as assigned.
• Complies with risk management policy for health and safety and GHS.
• Follows protocols to comply with standards from Ministry, public health and other regulatory bodies.
• Rotates stock and inventories; reports replenishment needs.
• Remains aware of developments and best practices in the field.
