Job summary

Aramark on NSCC IT Campus in Halifax is seeking a dedicated Food Services Worker to help maintain cleanliness, assist with food service at the dining area, and support smooth operations. You will handle light cash duties, stock, and maintain hygiene standards in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates bring strong customer service, teamwork, and a commitment to safety. Training is provided, and opportunities exist to grow within Aramark’s food service network.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service is an asset.
• WHMIS and Food Safe certifications are assets.
• Strong focus on food safety and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Assure quality, courteous customer service to all customers.
• Handle light cash transactions and balancing float.
• Educate customers on menu items and daily features.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas.
• Assist with food preparation at assigned stations.
• Stock shelves and bar areas; manage coolers and merchandise.
• May wash dishes and utensils.
• Record temperatures and logging waste and cleaning data.
• Follow Aramark and NSCC policies.

Job Responsibilities

• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers
• Light cash handling duties including processing customer transactions, balancing float, participating in audits
• Educate customers on menu items, daily features, dining hall events
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area
• Food preparation in accordance with menu at assigned station
• Stock and merchandise shelves, cereal and bread bar, salad bar, and coolers
• May wash and sanitize dishes and utensils
• Record temperatures, label products in accordance with FIFO, complete waste log and cleaning log
• Adhere to all Aramark and NSCC policies and procedures
• May perform other job duties as required

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience is an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Additional certification may be required by work location
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
