Job summary

Aramark Canada is seeking a Food Service Worker to support dining services at George Martin Dining Hall and Tim Hortons on campus. The role involves food prep, service, and guest interaction within a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Candidates with food safety knowledge and prior restaurant experience will excel. This is a union position offering benefits, vacation time, RRSP, and employee meal plans.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service is preferred.
• Experience with Tim Hortons or similar franchise is an asset.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene is valued.
• WHMIS/First Aid certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality, courteous service to guests.
• Handle light cash transactions and balance float.
• Educate guests on menus and daily features.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of work areas.
• Prepare food at assigned stations per menu.
• Stock shelves and merchandize dining areas.
• Wash dishes and sanitize as required.
• Record temperatures and logs; follow FIFO.
• Follow Aramark and university policies.
• May perform other duties as required.

Job Description

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to step into our most multi-dimensional role on the STU Dining Services team: Food Service Worker. In this versatile position, you'll have the opportunity to support our culinary team at George Martin Dining Hall with meal preparation and service, and/or as a Tim Hortons Team Member, serving up guest favorites at the Tim Horton's on campus.

Job Responsibilities

• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all guests
• Light cash handling duties including processing customer transactions, balancing float, participating in audits
• Educate guests on menu items, daily features, dining hall events
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area
• Food preparation in accordance with menu at assigned station
• Stock and merchandise shelves, cereal and bread bar, salad bar, and coolers
• May wash and sanitize dishes and utensils
• Record temperatures, label products in accordance with FIFO, complete waste log and cleaning log
• Adhere to all Aramark and St. Thomas University policies and procedures
• May perform other job duties as required

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience is an asset
• Experience working for Tim Hortons or similar franchise is an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Additional certification may be required by work location
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
