Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Valleyview Health Centre is seeking a Food Service I to perform routine food preparation, portioning, serving, and cleaning under the supervision of a Food Services Supervisor. This casual/relief position provides meals to Long Term Care residents and may require different shift patterns.

You will be responsible for packing, portioning, delivering meals, and maintaining sanitation across all food service areas, with attention to safety and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs.
• Walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks related to basic food preparation per standards and menus.
• Package, portion, and serve meals to patients and customers; assist with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and areas.
• Operate and maintain industrial food service equipment.
• Stock inventory and handle basic cash transactions where required.

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, this position performs routine food service duties such as preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery, distribution, disassembly, cleaning, operating industrial food service equipment, inventory stocking, cash transactions and customer service in all functional areas of the department. Food Service delivery is provided to Long Term Care residents. This position must be independent and able to make some decisions as a supervisor is not on duty at all times.

Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas.

This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
