Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Manning Community Health Centre is seeking a Food Service I to perform routine food preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery and cleaning in patient meal service. You will work independently when supervisor is not on duty and handle cash transactions as part of customer service.

The role includes preparing meals according to guidelines, serving patients and customers, stocking inventory and operating basic food service equipment, with shifts including days, evenings

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs.
• Walk and stand for the duration of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks related to basic food preparation per AHS standards and procedures.
• Package and portion food items.
• Prepare food according to set guidelines and menus.
• Serve meals to patients and customers.

Job description

Your Opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, this position performs routine food service duties such as preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery, distribution, disassembly, cleaning, operating industrial food service equipment, inventory stocking, cash transactions and customer service in all functional areas of the department. Food Service delivery is provided to Long Term Care residents. This position must be independent and able to make some decisions as a supervisor is not on duty at all times. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.
