Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a Food Service I to support the Patient Food Services unit at Coronation Hospital. You will perform basic food prep, portioning, and meal service to patients and staff, while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

The role requires physical work, lifting up to 46 lbs, and standing during shifts. Prior food service or hospital experience is preferred; a Food Safe certificate and WHMIS training are beneficial. Temporary part-time with rotation shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs.
• Walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks associated with basic food preparation per AHS standards and procedures.
• Package and portion food items, prepare meals according to guidelines and menus.
• Serve meals to patients and customers; clean and sanitize equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

Customer service experience. Food service experience. Experience in a hospital or long- term care environment. Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates and minimizing waste while utilizing “First in- First Out” procedures. Experiencewith Industrial Food Service Equipment. Food Safe Certificate or equivalent. WHMIS training.
