Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a Food Service I to join the Nutrition Food Service (NFS) team at Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. The role focuses on providing nutritious meals and a high-quality patient and resident experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include basic food preparation, portioning, meal service to patients and customers, and maintaining clean, sanitary work areas. A satisfactory criminal record check is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physically capable to lift up to 46 lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250 lbs.
• Must be able to walk and stand for the duration of the shift.

Description:

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with established standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

Customer service experience.Food service experience.Experience in a hospital or long- term care environment.Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates and minimizing waste while utilizing First In, First Out procedures.Experience with Industrial Food Service Equipment.Food Safe Certificate or equivalent.WHMIS training.
