Job Title: Food and Beverage Shift Lead Operating Group: Gateway North America Division: Food and Beverage Reports to: Retail Manager Job Level: Non-Manager Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Food and Beverage Shift Lead is responsible for assisting the team in the day-to-day Food and Beverage (Café) operations of the attraction. The primary responsibilities include serving as the department’s Supervisor on Duty and assuming the role of assigned hosts positions when necessary. The Shift Lead also plays a key role in developing front-line team members to deliver world-class customer service.

Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the smooth operation of all departments, including Food and Beverage, Attraction, and Retail, while serving as Supervisor on Duty.
  2. Delegate and monitor daily assignments for front-line staff.
  3. Lead and motivate staff to be guest-focused and provide exemplary customer service.
  4. Uphold health and safety policies and ensure team compliance.
  5. Manage queues and guest flow in high-traffic areas safely and efficiently.
  6. Respond promptly to guest issues, coordinating with relevant departments.
  7. Organize and conduct training for hosts in areas such as ride safety, food safety, profit protection, and retail standards, maintaining records.
  8. Empower team members to deliver outstanding service and handle guest recovery as needed.
  9. Evaluate workforce performance, providing coaching or escalation as appropriate.
  10. Support departmental tasks such as training, stocking, inventory control, employee engagement, and scheduling when not duty managing.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum six months’ experience in food and beverage roles preferred.
  • Experience in customer service and guest interaction required.
  • Experience and passion for entertaining children and families required.
  • Ability to train others effectively.
  • A fun, outgoing personality with excellent communication and motivational skills.

Licenses and Certifications: Ability to obtain required licenses or certifications as necessary by law.

Travel Requirements: May occasionally require local travel.
