Job summary

Zytech Building Systems in Leduc, AB is seeking a General Labourer / Truss Builder to assemble trusses with timely and precise workmanship and to participate in shop maintenance.

The role involves building truss orders per SOP, inspecting lumber, using hand and power tools, standing for long periods, and working in a noisy environment. We offer health, dental, pension and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Experience with hand tools including nail guns, staple guns and skill saws.
• Ability to lift heavy.
• Understanding of lumber grading and quality is an asset.
• Experience using power tools, sawing equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Build truss orders as per standard operating procedures or as dictated by the Truss Shop Supervisor.
• Stack, count and label trusses in correct order.
• Understand truss design layouts prior to building.
• Inspect and measure precut lumber for proper length and quality.
• Organize tools, materials, workstation and dispose of wastage.
• Inspect and maintain tools and machinery; report issues to Branch Manager.
• Follow safe work practices during lifting and repetitive motions.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job description

Zytech is looking for a General Labourer / Truss Builder for our Leduc, ABlocation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate assembly of finished trusses as well as participating in routine truss shop maintenance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Build truss orders as per standard operating procedures or as dictated by the Truss Shop Supervisor.
• Stack, count and label trusses in correct order
• Prior to building, scrutinized and thoroughly understand the truss design layouts
• Inspect and/or measure precut lumber for proper length and possible damage or other irregularities associated with quality control and standard operating procedures.
• Thorough and complete organization of tools, materials, workstation and cleaning and/or disposal of wastage.
• Regular inspection and maintenance as required for tools and machinery and report any problems or irregularities immediately to the Branch Manager.
• Adhere to safe work practices while doing routine lifting, repetitive hammering motions and getting up and down off the jigs.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Exposure to dust and saw-dust, dirt and extreme changes in temperature and weather.
• Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required.
