Maple Leaf Foods Inc. Hanover, ON seeks a dependable Floater to join our hatchery team. The role covers multiple departments, learning and supporting various operations with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

The successful candidate will participate in day-to-day activities across the hatchery, with shifts starting early mornings. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work weekends and statutory holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to procedures.
  • Ability to follow Animal Welfare/PCP/Biosecurity rules.
  • Proven performance in current role with reliable attendance.
  • Able to work in teams or alone in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift 40–50 lbs repetitively; stand long hours.
  • Valid G license required.

Responsibilities

  • Determine gender and quality of day-old chicks.
  • Rotate in separator area and tray wash areas.
  • Assist with chick deliveries to farm operations.
  • Support sanitation team as needed.
  • Handle receiving duties and inventory management.
  • Contribute to inovo transfer crew as required (Embrex); includes Saturdays.
  • Work in egg room on Wednesdays and Saturdays when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift Details: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 5:30AM start. Wednesday, 6AM start. End time variable based on production needs.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our hatchery team across various departments. The successful applicant will be responsible for learning and supporting multiple roles within the operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determining gender and quality of day-old chicks
  • Working full rotation in the separator area and tray wash areas
  • Support in chick deliveries to farm operations
  • Work with the sanitation team as needed
  • Receiving duties including inventory management
  • Working on the inovo transfer crew when needed (Embrex) Saturday’s included
  • Working in egg room on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s when needed
  • Other duties as assigned
What’s in it for you?
  • $21.56 - $22.56 per hour (based on progression)
  • All PPE is provided to employees (Boot Reimbursement of $125 after 3 months of service)
