Job summary

WestCana is seeking a reliable Float Maintenance Technician on a casual, on-call basis to support senior care facilities. You will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, respond to requests, and keep maintenance records.

Strong problem-solving and English communication skills are essential. The role requires a high school diploma, WHMIS certification, and legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • WHMIS certification upon hire (maintained annually).
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems (plumbing, painting, carpentry etc.).
  • Conduct inspections of equipment and facilities to identify issues.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management.
  • Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with moving furniture, setting up equipment, and other general facility tasks.

Job description

WestCana is seeking a reliable and motivated Float Maintenance Technician to join our team on a casual, on-call basis. If you take pride in maintaining safe, comfortable environments and enjoy making a difference in the lives of seniors, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Status: Casual, On-Call
  • Wage: $25.07 - $26.47 per hour

Maintenance Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous facility maintenance experience is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work under strict time constraints
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Valid WHMIS certification upon hire (maintained annually)
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Ability to pass and maintain a clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check (upon hire and every 5 years thereafter)

Maintenance Responsibilities:
