Job summary

Sentient HR provides staffing solutions to licensed childcare centres across Ontario. We are seeking RECEs and ECAs for short-shift, part-time opportunities throughout York Region, including before/after school and partial-day coverage.

This role is designed for educators seeking flexible hours, a gradual return to work, or supplementary income. You may support or lead age-appropriate programming while collaborating with centre staff.

Qualifications

• ECE Diploma from an Ontario college or equivalent qualification.
• Registered and in Good Standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• For ECA applicants: relevant education and/or childcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
• Supervise children and prioritise health, safety, and well‑being.
• Support Before and After School routines and programming.
• Engage children in planned activities, play-based learning, and social interactions.
• Assist RECEs and staff to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Lead educator responsibilities where appropriate.
• Follow applicable laws, policies, and centre procedures.
• Observe children’s needs and communicate with centre staff.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Work cooperatively as part of the childcare centre team.
