Job summary

CBI Home Health in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Specialist. This part-time, on-site role involves assisting adults with daily living, meal planning, and medication administration within a supportive team environment.

You will promote involvement in family and community activities, maintain care plans, and accompany clients to engage with the community. Flexible hours include weekend shifts to fit patient needs.

Qualifications

• Must have Class 5 Manitoba Driver's license.
• Reliable vehicle required for daily travel to clients.
• Experience/knowledge of working with adult clients with intellectual and mental disabilities.
• Experience/knowledge of working with clients with alcohol and drug dependencies.
• Valid certification in emergency first aid and CPR.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector within last 6 months.
• Minimum Grade Twelve education; Post-secondary, DSCW or HCA preferred.
• Good communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain positive communications with individuals and families, management, and care teams.
• Carry out activities of daily living, including personal care and meal preparation, and assist with medications.
• Complete records and documentation per CBI policy and licensing requirements.
• Maintain logs and records daily and address needs or concerns.
• Review meeting minutes, logs, incident reports, and memos; report as required.
• Prepare incident reports and route to Team Leader or Operations Manager.
• Attend staff and planning meetings and participate in training courses.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
