Job summary

Oak Bay Parks, Recreation & Culture seeks a Licensed Daycare Instructor Sub to support the Daycare Supervisor. You’ll plan, supervise and deliver a safe, fun program for children aged 3-5, working within regulatory standards and maintaining clean, safe spaces.

Auxiliary union position with flexible hours; 14% in lieu of benefits and a Staff Pass; on-the-job training provided. Must meet licensing requirements and clear background checks as required by Island Health.

Qualifications

• Minimum 19 years of age and BC license to practice ECE.
• ECE A or ECE Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institute.
• Experience instructing preschoolers in childcare/recreational settings.
• Current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C; 20 hours of related training.
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Responsibilities

• Work with children, parents/guardians, staff and public in a warm and friendly manner.
• Work within Community Care Facilities Licensing Board regulations.
• Plan, supervise and implement a daily schedule of activities suitable for children 3-5 years of age.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and standards.
• Ensure program areas are always kept clean and well-maintained.
