Job summary

Southern Gulf Islands Neighbourhood House Society on Pender Island is seeking a qualified ECE to join our daycare team at the Epicentre. This full-time role (35–40 hours/week) offers 7.5–8 hour days and pays CAD 24–28 per hour plus an ECE wage top up, depending on certification and experience.

As soon as possible start. You will deliver emergent, child-led early learning for ages 3–5, collaborate with families, and support a community-focused program in a beautiful island setting.

Qualifications

  • Basic ECE credentials required.
  • BC ECE certificate issued by the BC ECE Registry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in licensed childcare.
  • Commitment to BC's Early Learning Framework.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in small communities or non-profits is a plus.

Job Description

We're hiring at the newly renovated Epicentre and looking to expand our amazing team! We're looking for an ECE to join our dynamic daycare team at the Epicentre on Pender Island!

  • Demonstrated experience supporting, guiding, and caring for children in a licensed childcare setting.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality programming aligned with BC's Early Learning Framework.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, respectful approach.
  • An understanding of and respect for individual and cultural diversity, including a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Experience working in small communities and/or with non-profit organizations (an asset).
Physical & Additional Requirements
  • Sufficient stamina and energy to meet the physical demands of childcare (e.g., standing, sitting on the floor, assisting with toileting and dressing, supervising outdoor play and out-trips, leading physical activities).
  • Proficient communication skills in English.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification and a Clear Criminal Record Check (required prior to employment).
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families and caregivers.
  • Willingness to contribute to a clean and safe learning environment through light housekeeping duties.
Salary & Benefits

Wage: $24-$28/hour, depending on certification and experience + ECE Wage Top Up.
