Transdev Canada is hiring a Casual Fleet Mechanic in Abbotsford, BC. If you're a Red Seal–certified mechanic, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet to keep it safe and reliable for the community.

Qualifications

• Red Seal-certified mechanic with BC license and air brake endorsements.
• Air Brake, CVIP, A/C, and optional CNG certifications or willingness to obtain.
• Experience on diesel and gasoline vehicles with diagnostics tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Perform PMIs, safety and annual vehicle inspections.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and related systems.
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tires, lubrication, and servicing.
• Remove, overhaul, repair, and reinstall components with minimal supervision.
• Complete accurate work orders, reports and maintenance records.
• Conduct road tests and move vehicles for verification of repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety standards.
• Identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and improve fleet reliability.
• Follow company policies and safety regulations; perform other duties as assigned.

Your role:

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), safety inspections, and annual vehicle inspections.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fuel injection, suspension, brake, drivetrain, steering, and transmission systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire replacements, lubrication, and equipment servicing.
• Remove, overhaul, repair, and reinstall mechanical components with minimal supervision.
• Complete accurate work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
• Conduct road tests and move vehicles safely between work areas to verify repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company and safety standards.
• Identify and report unsafe equipment or conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with team members to share technical knowledge and support fleet reliability.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your Profile:

• Red Seal certification as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic, or Automotive Service Technician.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Air Brake Certification authorizing work on air brake systems.
• CVIP Inspection Certification, or the ability to obtain it.
• Air Conditioning Certification, or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
• Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Certification, or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
• Experience repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using computerized diagnostic tools and maintenance management software.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
• A complete set of mechanic's tools.
• Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Your Location:

• This unionized position is based in Abbotsford, BC.
• Mix of scheduled and on-call assignments, up to 40hrs per week, based on operational requirements.
