Mission

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is looking to hire a seasonal flagger based in Cranbrook, BC.

While reporting to the Foreman, the Flagger is responsible for helping to control the flow of traffic in and around work zones, while utilizing proper safety practices and procedures. Part of the Flaggers role is to assess the environment and ensure that safety in and around the work zone is maintained. The flagger operation provides protection for other workers, equipment operators, drivers and the public to ensure the work zone protection and efficient traffic control.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure road safety practices are followed.
• Controlling the flow of traffic in and around work zones.
• Assist with set up of all signage related to the work zones.
• Maintain continuous communicating with other flaggers and/or Foreman.
• Conduct hazard assessments.
• Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications/Experience

• High-School Diploma or G.E.D (preferred)
• Flagger/Traffic Control Designation/Certification
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in road construction (preferred).
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Flagger (an asset).

Working Conditions

• Travel as required.
• Overtime as required.
• Use of personal protection equipment is required.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Compensation Data

The anticipated wage for this position is $24.18 CAD an hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
