Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in Regina, SK, is seeking full-time permanent Fitters/Fabricators at our Mill Street location to fabricate custom prototypes, build jigs and fixtures, and assemble metal structures to meet customer specifications.

You will read blueprints, plan fabrication steps, lay out reference points, and use welding, fitting and cutting methods to produce high-quality components in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ fitting experience in a heavy plate/structural steel fabrication shop.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with staff at all levels, technical and non-technical.
  • Day and Afternoon shifts available.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Trade certification or journeyperson certification considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
  • Plan the sequence of tasks to fabricate weldments efficiently.
  • Lay out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to specifications.
  • Read a tape measure accurately.
  • Rig, hoist, and move materials within the worksite.
  • Assemble and fit metal sections and plates using welding, bolting, riveting or other methods.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment.
  • Install fabricated components in final products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Fitter/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating custom prototypes, building jigs and fixtures for production, and assembling metal structures to meet customer specifications. This role requires accurately interpreting drawings, planning fabrication steps, laying out precise reference points, and using welding, fitting, and cutting methods to produce high-quality components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
  • Read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
  • Plan the sequence of tasks to fabricate weldments most efficiently.
  • Lay out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Rig, hoist, and move materials to storage areas or within worksite.
  • Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methods.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment.
  • Install fabricated components in final products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ fitting experience in a heavy plate/structural steel fabrication shop.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both technical and user-friendly language when appropriate, with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management.
  • Day and Afternoon shifts available.
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Possess strong time management skills.
  • Possess flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Trade certification or journeyperson certification considered an asset.
