Job summary

YMCA-YWCA WINNIPEG is seeking a part-time Fitness Services Staff / Fitness Instructor to greet members, deliver engaging workouts, and support their fitness goals in a welcoming, inclusive environment. You will lead classes, demonstrate equipment, and help maintain a clean, safe training space while building strong relationships with members and staff.

The role emphasizes on-site service, on-the-floor instruction, and collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

• 6–12 months experience in customer service.
• Passion for exercise with a desire to learn more.
• Exceptional communication and relationship building skills.
• Certified Fitness Instructor through YMCA, MFC or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interact with members, provide demonstrations/instruction on equipment.
• Deliver programming and services such as eGym, FitMe and others.
• Maintain the facility and ensure member safety.
• Plan and deliver a variety of quality, safe exercise classes.
• Lead and engage participants and build positive relationships with members.

As a member of our team, you will be the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg’s ambassador in our Fitness Services Department. You will provide our members with a phenomenal experience in a welcoming, fun, life-changing, inclusive environment and provide them with encouragement, motivation and support to help them achieve their fitness, health and wellness goals. You will create this environment through greeting and chatting with members, developing relationships, assisting members in achieving their fitness goals and maintaining a clean, tidy, and organized training area, all with genuine enthusiasm and passion. Are you the right fit?

• Interact with members providing demonstrations/instruction on equipment and build positive relationships
• Deliver unique programming and services such as eGym, FitMe and other programs (we will train you!)
• Assist other departments as required, collaboration/support to other program areas
• Maintain the facility by performing basic maintenance and cleaning of the fitness centre equipment
• Ensure member safety by providing guidance on exercise safety/using appropriate behaviours in facility
• Grow and learn, possess a curiosity, a passion for fitness or physical activity, and a willingness to learn
• Plan/develop/deliver a variety of quality, safe and fun exercise classes
• Lead and engage participants
• Build positive relationships with members, staff and volunteers

What else do you need?

• 6-12 months experience in customer service
• Standard First Aid
• Passion for exercise with a desire to learn more
• Exceptional communication, relationship building, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills
• Certified Fitness Instructor through YMCA, MFC or equivalent
• 6-12 months experience in fitness instruction
