Job summary

Hatfield Consultants, a Canadian environmental firm, seeks a permanent full-time Manager, Fisheries & Aquatics, to lead the EMA Group in North Vancouver, New Westminster, or Calgary. You will oversee teams of biologists, manage EMA projects, and guide client-focused strategy on permits, habitat restoration, and monitoring.

The role requires eight+ years in environmental consulting, strong leadership, and knowledge of federal/provincial laws. Hybrid work and relocation support are offered.

Qualifications

  • Eight years or more of progressive work experience in an environmental consulting environment, including managing environmental projects at a senior level.
  • Working knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation.
  • Analytical skills applicable to study design and statistical analysis of environmental data.
  • Experience writing comprehensive technical reports.
  • A valid Canadian driver’s license for the past three years and ability to be added to our third-party vehicle insurance provider.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, manage, and mentor teams of environmental specialists and technicians.
  • Manage a portfolio of EMA Group projects.
  • Provide clients with high quality, sound and strategic advice to navigate permitting requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight on environmental protection, assessment, permitting, and habitat offsetting/restoration design.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to implement projects.
  • Lead business development activities, including proposals and client negotiations.
  • Act as the primary client contact on proposals and projects.
  • Lead meetings with clients and regulators.
  • Lead field programs, occasionally in remote locations.
  • Manage and interpret complex environmental data.
  • Prepare and submit technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality plans and regulations.
