Job summary

North Nova Seafoods in Petit-de-Grat, Nova Scotia, seeks seasonal full-time workers for a seafood processing plant. 80 positions available with 30–60 hours per week and a wage of CAD 16.75–17.50 per hour. Duties include trimming, cleaning, packaging, weighing, and assembling seafood products. Bondable applicants preferred.

Work environment is noisy, odorous, cold/refrigerated, and damp. Training provided; no degree required. Language flexibility (English or French) is accepted.

Qualifications

  • English or French language work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, clean and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing.
  • Unload fish and shellfish from vessels and transport by hand to work area.
  • Check products/packaging for defects and adjust machines as needed.
  • Disjoint and remove meat from lobsters or crustaceans prep to canning.
  • Record production information.
  • Set up and operate machines to can, bag, box or package fish/seafood products.
  • Set up and operate machines to process fish/seafood (cut, cook, smoke, brine, dehydrate).
  • Weigh fish/shellfish, record weight and pack in ice.
  • Clean, sort and pack shellfish.
  • Clean work area.
  • Transport items throughout plant with powered equipment.
