Paqtnkek Band Office is seeking a Registered Nurse for a maternity leave coverage in the Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation community. The role emphasizes community health, health education, and preventive care in alignment with primary health care principles.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing and active RN registration in good standing with Nova Scotia College of RN Standards.
Immunization certification or ability to obtain shortly after hiring; re-certification every three years.
Minimum 1 year of recent full-time public health/community health nursing preferred.
Knowledge of First Nations health issues and community health nursing practices.

Responsibilities

Provide community health nursing, health education, treatment and rehabilitative services.
Deliver comprehensive core nursing functions focusing on health promotion, disease prevention and population health.
Apply evidence-based nursing practice and data-informed decision making for program planning.
Engage with communities to respect customs and support traditional healing where appropriate.
