Job summary

The City of Beaumont Fire Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Firefighter to join our expanding team in Beaumont, Alberta. You will respond to incidents, support training, and help maintain readiness across equipment, stations, and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter I-II certification.
• NFPA 1002 Driver & Pumper Operator certification.
• NFPA 1072/470 Awareness & Operations certification.
• Alberta Class 5 license with Q endorsement.
• Standard First Aid with CPR/AED.
• At least 3 years of active fire service experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, MVCs, rescues, hazmat, and medical first response per protocols.
• Inspect and service firefighting equipment and apparatus.
• Maintain fire station and grounds for operational efficiency.
• Deliver instructional sessions to volunteer firefighters.
• Develop knowledge of Beaumont streets, infrastructure, hazards.

What YOU’RE Responsible for:

Respond to Incidents:

• Provide response to fire-related incidents, motor vehicle collisions, rescues, hazardous material incidents, and medical first response calls, in accordance with departmental protocols.
• Take part in post-incident debriefings and ensure all equipment is inspected, serviced, and ready for future use.

Maintain Operational Readiness:

• Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of firefighting equipment and apparatus.
• Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the fire station and surrounding grounds to ensure operational efficiency.

Train for Excellence:

• Support the development of Volunteer Firefighters by preparing and delivering instructional sessions.
• Develop and maintain a strong knowledge base of Beaumont’s streets, infrastructure, water supply, and potential hazards.
• Comply with all applicable legislative requirements, safety procedures, and respectful workplace policies.
• Promptly report unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.
• Actively participate in safety meetings and foster a culture of positivity and professionalism.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What YOU Bring:

• Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Legally entitled to work in Canada (You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent/Landed Immigrant)
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1001 Firefighter Levels I-II
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1002 Driver & Pumper Operator
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1072/470 Awareness & Operations
• A Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with Q endorsement and a clean driving abstract
• Standard First Aid with CPR/AED or higher level
• At least 3 years of continuous and active fire service experience

Assets:

• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1002 Aerial Operations
• BlueCard Incident Command
• ICS 100
• Current member of Beaumont Volunteer Fire Services
