Job summary

BWXT Technical Services Canada (TSC) — part of the NLPC project — is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to provide expert fire protection and emergency services support at the Chalk River, Ontario site. The role focuses on code compliance, risk assessment, and documentation review across design and construction phases.

You will review plans, perform fire safety analyses, prepare technical documents, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized university.
• Eligible for Professional Engineer licensure with PEO.
• 2+ years experience in fire protection systems or design preferred.
• Must reside near or relocate to Chalk River, Ontario.
• Knowledge of NFPA, National Building Code, CSA standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire safety assessments and FHA reviews for compliance.
• Prepare and review design requirements, descriptions, and test plans.
• Inspect projects and witness tests for compliance with codes.
• Assist with fire investigations and incident analysis.
• Coordinate meetings with fire service and external groups.
• Provide engineering guidance on fire protection design decisions.
