Job summary

BWXT Technical Services Canada seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire safety assessments, code reviews, and design support for NLPC-related projects in Ontario. You will review FHAs, conduct inspections, and liaise with fire services to ensure compliance with NFPA, CSA, and building codes.

Close collaboration with project teams and ongoing professional development are expected. The role requires PEO licensure eligibility or active P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science; eligible for PEO licensure.
• Engineering discipline in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil preferred.
• Two+ years of experience in fire protection systems or design.
• Eligible for Canadian security clearance; reside near Chalk River, Ontario or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fire safety assessments and code interpretation for compliance.
• Review FHAs and fire hazard analyses; prepare test plans and reports.
• Inspect and test fire protection systems; review maintenance procedures.
• Assist with investigations and provide expertise during fire incidents and investigations.
• Coordinate meetings and projects within fire service and external groups.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NFPA, CSA, and National Building/Fire Codes.
