Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking an Electrical Fire Protection Engineer (P.Eng.) in Toronto to join its Fire & Life Safety team. The role focuses on fire alarm system design, code compliance, and mult-disciplinary collaboration across commercial, residential, healthcare, and industrial sectors.

Hybrid/flexible work is offered with relocation assistance for those relocating to the Greater Toronto Area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.Eng. designation is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering, fire alarm system design, or life safety consulting within the building consulting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, NBCC, NFPA Standards, and ULC Standards.
  • Experience designing fire alarm systems for commercial, residential, healthcare, institutional, industrial, or mixed-use buildings.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative consulting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and review fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, and design documentation.
  • Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, National Building Code of Canada, NFPA standards, and ULC requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations and system evaluations for new and existing buildings.
  • Conduct site investigations, field reviews, inspections, and commissioning support.
  • Review contractor shop drawings and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Provide technical guidance throughout design, permitting, construction, and project close-out.
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, developers, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Support alternative solution development and performance-based fire engineering where applicable.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence within the team.

About The Opportunity

A leading engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Fire Protection Engineer (P.Eng.) to join its growing Fire & Life Safety team in Toronto. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong background in fire alarm system design, fire and life safety engineering, and building code compliance. You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, institutional, industrial, aviation, and mixed-use developments while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
