The Fire Prevention Officer/Firefighter in Russell Township provides fire safety code compliance services, inspections, and public education on fire safety. The role includes developing and implementing a municipal inspection program, investigating fire causes, and supporting the volunteer public education division.
It also functions as an on-call firefighter responding to emergencies. Qualifications include 5+ years in fire service, NFPA 1001 L1/L2, NFPA 1072/472 Ops, NFPA 1031/1035/1033
Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Prevention Officer/Firefighter (FPO/FF) is responsible for providing fire safety code compliance services, inspections, public education on fire safety, development and implementation of a municipal inspection program and to investigate and determine fire cause. The FPO/FF will also assist and cooperate with the volunteer public education division team by developing, delivering, and evaluating public education programs throughout the community and provide fire public education training to various client groups. In addition, the FPO/FF will also be an operational firefighter responding to emergencies.
Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in either French or English. Proficiency in the second official language a strong asset.
The salary is based on 40 hours a week and is set between $86,986 and $108,493 per year and must be available to be on an on-call rotation. The offer includes an excellent benefits package, a pension plan, as well as free access to the Sports Dome Training Centre.
