Job summary

Town of High River is seeking a Fire Captain to provide incident command and leadership at the Fire Hall. You will guide a team of firefighters, volunteers, and reserves while ensuring safety, training, and compliance with regulations.

The role emphasizes accountability, connection, and excellence in a fast-paced, on-site environment with a focus on community service and public safety.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressively responsible experience within a recognized fire service.
  • NFPA 1001 Level 2 Pump Operators course completed or in progress.
  • Current Class 3Q vehicle operator’s permit.
  • EMR certification (asset) and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to fires, vehicle collisions and other emergencies as Incident Commander.
  • Lead daily station routines and mentor junior members including volunteers.
  • Coordinate station maintenance, training plans and administrative tasks.
  • Conduct inspections, pre-incident planning and hydrant mapping.
  • Deliver public safety education and community programs.
