Job description

ERG Fire Alarm Technician Job Description

ERG is seeking fire alarm technicians to provide fire protection system installation, troubleshooting, repair, and testing support for high hazard areas, such as chemical processing facilities or explosives storage facilities. The position is located at a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland.

This full-time position involves interaction with ERG personnel at the federal site and from ERG's offices in Chantilly and Arlington. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. Alternative work schedules may be considered.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide installation, operations, and maintenance support for fire protection systems (FPS) according to federal, local, and industry standards.
2. Conduct site visits to document existing FPS conditions.
3. Perform troubleshooting, repair, testing, and preventative maintenance of FPS.
4. Test FPS in accordance with applicable plans and provide written reports.
5. Identify and proactively resolve FPS issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience with fire alarm systems installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards, preferably with NICET Level II certification.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds and working in potentially hazardous environments.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NICET certification.
• Experience with fire safety in construction and renovation, DoD requirements, fire alarm panels (e.g., Notifier), ultra-high-speed FPS, UV/IR detection technologies, and relevant regulations.
