What you will do

Tyco Integrated Fire & Security is a recognized leader in the manufacturing, sales, and service of state-of-the-art monitor and control systems for fire alarm, security, sound, nurse call, integrated systems, portable extinguishers, and sprinkler systems. Tyco Integrated Fire & Security creates innovative, high-quality solutions that meet customer needs in the future.

How you will do it

  • Assist senior technicians with the testing, inspection, and maintenance activities on Fire Alarm Control Panels, including connection of devices and circuits.
  • Complete accurate and detailed inspection reports for submittal to customers, per code requirements.
  • Identify general deficiencies and code issues in the field during verification.
  • Maintain real time debriefing with workorder management smartphone app.
  • Travel throughout the province as required.
  • Work with Fire Alarm and Sprinkler field technicians to coordinate inspections.
  • Conduct small programming modifications to an existing system with supervision.
  • Program small systems (upon training).
  • Maintain 100% participation in safety program, including daily Pre-Job Checklists and Job Hazard Assessments.

What we look for

Required

  • Completion of college or technical training in Fire Protection or Electrical/Electronic or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years experience in business-to-business interaction.
  • Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) confirmation of enrollment, certification or willingness to enrol and complete training.
  • Knowledgeable of provincial building & fire codes for inspection purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to program basic operations on micro-processor-based systems without supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to express clear technical solutions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 30lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service focus, meaning the ability to convey concise information to the customer and to the office on the status of the work in progress or any follow-up required.
  • Strong autonomy, means the ability to work unsupervised and be responsible for sourcing information from your peers, supervisors, training material, code, or product manuals.
