The role emphasizes safety, PPE adherence, and teamwork in a fully onsite setting with 7 AM to 3 PM hours. Experience with commercial construction tools and reading detailed plans is required.

Qualifications

Job Title: Finishing Carpenter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled finishing carpenter to join our team, specializing in installing doors, hardware, lever sets, weather strips, door closures, panic doors, and door stops. The role requires the ability to read and execute step-by-step instructions accurately, ensuring precision and quality in all installations.

Responsibilities

• Install doors and associated hardware with precision.
• Wire panic doors and ensure they function correctly.
• Follow detailed instructions for installations step by step.
• Maintain a keen attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
• Problem-solve on-site issues effectively and efficiently.
• Navigate and utilize iPads for installation guides and instructions.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in construction, framing, and carpentry.
• Experience with both hand and power tools in commercial construction.
• Ability to safely operate power tools such as MIG welders, saws, presses, grinders, power files, and punching equipment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a carpenter or in a specialty sub-trade.
• Ability to read and follow detailed instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Basic toolset including cordless drill and driver bits.
• First aid certification is a plus.
• Welding experience is beneficial.
• Commitment to wearing PPE at all times, including hard hat, steel-toed boots, high visibility attire, gloves, safety glasses, and hard hat lanyard.
• Ability to lift 50lbs regularly.
• Commitment to a long-term project lasting over 2 years.

Work Environment

Work hours are from 7 AM to 3 PM, in a collaborative team setting of 2-4 people focusing on door installations. The project spans approximately 3 years, providing consistent work and the opportunity to refine your skills alongside experienced professionals.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Dartmouth, NS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
