Blackline Civil Inc. is seeking a skilled Finish Excavator to support civil construction projects across Alberta. You will perform precise excavation around live utilities and install underground infrastructure such as water, sewer, and storm systems.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to project specs, and collaboration with pipe layers and supervisors to ensure timely, quality work on active sites.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of excavator experience in underground or civil construction.
• Proven experience working around live utilities.
• Strong understanding of trenching and excavation safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators for trenching, backfilling, grading, and utility installation.
• Safely expose existing underground utilities.
• Work around live gas, electrical, water, and telecom lines.
• Follow grade stakes, trench depths, and site plans with precision.
• Coordinate closely with pipe layers, labourers, and supervisors.
• Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintain trench safety in compliance with regulations (shoring, sloping, benching).
• Ensure all work is performed according to safety standards and project specs.

About the Role
