Job description

This is a student position that is 4 months in duration (May - August 2025). You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University.

This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. While not required, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.

Working as a member of the Technology Strategic Finance team, the Financial Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the organisation’s tech strategy targets and ensuring effective financial management and reporting for strategic initiative portfolio. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the organisation's growth by leveraging strong financial acumen and strategic insights.

We are seeking an individual who is excited to contribute to the continued success of the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Financial Modeling and Business Case Development
  • Provide support in developing financial models to evaluate the financial viability and impact of new strategic initiatives and partnerships.
  • Prepare detailed and persuasive business cases for leadership review and approvals.
• Support initiative gating process and extend support to delivery teams in development and review of gating artifacts (as required).
• Partner with initiative owners to track budgets, forecasts and actual spend against targets.
• Publish monthly reporting dashboard to leadership on initiative and tech strategy financials.
• Other ad-hoc activities
  • Develop well-structured, persuasive presentation materials for senior leadership with actionable insights.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and summaries as required.
  • Additional reporting responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Minimum requirements: Enrollment in a post-secondary level finance/accounting degree program with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in an office environment.
• Prior experience in a finance or strategy role will be an asset.
• Should possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Good analytical skills, including financial analysis and research, with the ability to organize results and recommendations clearly.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Should possess strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a team-based atmosphere.
• Should have a positive attitude, willingness to learn and should be adaptable to change.
• Have excellent time management skills with a strong attention to detail.

The base salary for this position is between $44,700 - $67,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus, commission etc.).
