Air Canada is seeking a qualified Financial Reporting & Consolidation professional to produce monthly and quarterly IFRS reporting for Aeroplan and Air Canada entities. The role supports the consolidation, intercompany reconciliations, and audit processes with internal teams and external auditors.

You will monitor cash flow, ensure compliance with investor agreements, and maintain strong internal controls while providing reliable financial analysis for leadership and equity investors.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business or accounting.
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA designation.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Solid analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple projects, shift priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with SAP financial systems would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly & quarterly financial statements for Aeroplan, aligned with IFRS and Air Canada’s accounting policies.
  • Coordinate the year-end close and audit of Aeroplan’s annual financial statements with external auditors.
  • Support Air Canada’s consolidation of Aeroplan, including intercompany balances and allocations.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports with KPIs and variance analyses.
  • Provide financial information to Aeroplan’s equity investor per the shareholder agreement.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations to ensure proper recording.
  • Monitor cash flow and distributable cash; liaise on distributions to investors.
  • Maintain 52-109 internal controls over financial reporting for new processes.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and board/committee reporting.

Reporting to the Partner, Corporate Reporting, the incumbent is accountable for producing accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly and quarterly results, year-end financial statements, and related audit support, in accordance with IFRS and Air Canada’s accounting policies. The position supports the consolidation of Aeroplan into Air Canada’s financial results, including intercompany reconciliations, appropriate accounting treatment, and reporting to internal leadership, Aeroplan management, and equity investors. It also monitors cash flow, distributable cash and compliance requirements under shareholder and corporate agreements, while maintaining strong internal controls over financial reporting. Through analysis, reporting and process improvement, the role contributes to reliable decision-making and effective financial governance for Aeroplan.

Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Consolidation
  • Produce monthly & quarterly financial statements for Aeroplan, aligned with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Air Canada’s accounting policies. Ensure timely close processes and high-quality financial reporting for Aeroplan as a subsidiary.
  • Coordinate the year-end close and audit of Aeroplan’s annual financial statements, working with external auditors to provide supporting documentation and explanations.
  • Support Air Canada’s consolidation of Aeroplan, including elimination of intercompany balances, proper treatment of Aeroplan’s results and allocation to non-controlling interest.
Management & Stakeholder Reporting
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports for Air Canada’s finance leadership and Aeroplan’s management. Include key performance metrics, variance analyses, and insight into Aeroplan’s financial results relative to budget or forecast.
  • Provide required financial information to Aeroplan’s equity investor on a quarterly and annual basis, per the shareholder agreement.
Intercompany Accounting & Compliance
  • Oversee all financial transactions between Aeroplan and Air Canada (and affiliates) to ensure they are properly recorded and reconciled. Reconcile intercompany balances monthly and resolve any differences with Air Canada’s accounting team.
  • Ensure Aeroplan’s financial activities align with the investor agreements and corporate policies, including compliance with distribution-related covenants. Liaise with internal stakeholders (Treasury, Legal) to ensure alignment on these requirements.
Cash Flow & Distributable Cash Monitoring
  • Compile cash flow reports and monitor liquidity versus required reserves including calculations for available distributable cash to shareholders.
  • Co-ordinate the accounting and execution of any distributions to investors.
Internal Controls
  • Implement and maintain strong 52-109 internal controls over financial reporting for all new processes introduced by Aeroplan’s minority investment structure.
Ad Hoc Analysis & Projects
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis related to Aeroplan’s capital structure or shareholder arrangements.
  • Provide input to financial analysis and reports for Board meetings or special committees regarding Aeroplan.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting processes and controls aimed at continuous improvement and efficiencies
  • Supporting other deliverables and projects within the Financial Reporting team.
Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Solid analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • High degree of energy, dedication, and work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with SAP financial systems would be an asset.
