Join a purpose-driven, results-oriented, inclusive, and high-performing culture at Scotia Financial Planning.

We have rebranded our role to 'Financial Planners' from 'Investment Specialist' under the Mobile Advice Team to better reflect our mission. As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You are entrepreneurial, building long-term relationships and leveraging your networks. Your clients are your assets, and your goal is to help them meet their financial objectives through tailored investment and financial planning advice.

You enjoy building new relationships and appreciate the flexibility to meet clients outside traditional office hours, aligning with their schedules. You will work within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits both your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and acquiring new clients, while adhering to global sales principles, compliance, and regulatory standards. You will also explore business development opportunities within your assigned market area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Implement plans to attract prospects and serve existing clients, identify new investment opportunities, and facilitate solutions or referrals.
  • Client-Centric Service: Offer tailored investment solutions, conduct outbound communications, and perform needs analyses across various financial statements.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in local events and associations, deliver community seminars, and build a strong local market presence. Manage a small marketing budget for independent activities.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Mutual funds certification with current MFDA licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Completion of a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Strong networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills; experience with Centres of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and capable of working independently and within a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, regulatory environment, and competitive offerings.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings within the district.

What’s in it for you?

  • Entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • Flexible, fast-paced work environment with self-set hours and client meetings.
  • Rewarding compensation structure based on client growth and retention.
  • Access to advanced resources, including marketing support, mobile technology, CRM, and financial planning software.
  • Opportunity to build lasting client relationships through exceptional service.
  • Partnerships with branches and Scotia Global Asset Management for an enhanced client experience.
  • Inclusive work culture that values diversity and respect.

Additional Information:

• Compensation includes base salary plus variable pay. The role requires frequent travel as it is mobile.
