Our name has been refreshed to Financial Planners under Scotia Financial Planning (formerly ‘Investment Specialist’ under the Mobile Advice Team). Join a team dedicated to making a difference!

Role Overview: As a Financial Planner, you will develop and deepen client relationships by providing high-quality advice within the mass affluent market. You are entrepreneurial, focusing on building long-term relationships, leveraging your networks, and growing your practice. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your goal is to help them meet their financial objectives.

You will also enjoy meeting clients outside of the office, at times that suit both parties, and working within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will drive investment sales and new client acquisition, adhering to compliance and regulatory standards, while exploring business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development: Implement plans to attract prospects and serve existing clients, identify new investment opportunities, and facilitate solutions or referrals.
  2. Client-Centric Solutions: Provide tailored investment advice, conduct proactive outreach, and perform needs analysis across financial statements.
  3. Community Engagement: Participate in local events, develop networks, deliver seminars, and manage marketing activities to expand your market presence.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Current mutual funds accreditation and MFDA licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Personal Financial Planning (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Strong networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills; experience with Centres of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently and within a team.
  • Knowledge of market trends, competitive offerings, economic conditions, and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings.

Benefits:

  • Entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • Flexible work environment with settable hours and client meeting options.
  • Compensation based on base salary plus variable pay, rewarding client growth and retention.
  • Supportive resources including marketing, technology, CRM, and financial planning tools.
  • Opportunity to build lasting client relationships and deliver exceptional service without branch visits.
  • Partnership with branches and access to Scotia Global Asset Management.
