Job Title: Cloud FinOps Engineer
Location: Remote (Canada)

Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze cloud usage and spending across services and departments, identifying cost anomalies or spikes.
- Recommend and implement cost optimization strategies, including right-sizing, reserved instances, auto-scaling, and removal of idle resources.
- Collaborate with finance and engineering teams to create cloud cost forecasts and define budgets for projects or departments.
- Build automated dashboards and generate regular cost reports using tools like AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, or third-party platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability).
- Define and enforce tagging strategies to ensure accurate cost attribution by project, team, or environment.
- Promote cloud cost best practices and FinOps culture by educating teams and aligning cloud usage with business goals.
- Automate cost optimization tasks and alerting using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Establish and enforce cloud spend policies to maintain compliance with organizational and industry standards.
Must-Have Skills:
- Proficiency with AWS and/or Azure, or Google Cloud (at least one deeply, familiarity with others).
- Experience with tools like AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing, CloudHealth, or Cloudability.
- Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
- CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Operations, Datadog, or similar.
- Implementing and enforcing tagging policies for cost attribution.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities (e.g., reserved instances, spot instances, right-sizing).
- Understanding of cost models and forecasting techniques.
- Data Analysis: Strong skills in Excel/Google Sheets; bonus: SQL or BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner / Solutions Architect
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (from FinOps Foundation)
