Job summary

McCord Stewart Museum, anchored in Montreal, seeks an experienced finance leader to manage all accounting and financial operations for the Museum and its Foundation. You will uphold internal controls, drive continuous process improvements, supervise staff, and coordinate year-end activities with external auditors.

The role requires a CPA designation, a university degree in accounting or administration, and 5–8 years of relevant experience, with fluency in French and good English.

Qualifications

• CPA designation and a university degree in accounting or administration.
• Fluency in French and good knowledge of English.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in accounting/finance.
• Proficiency in MS Office with advanced Excel for reporting.
• Experience supervising staff and improving financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting functions.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate staff under their responsibility.
• Prepare the annual budget and financial forecasts, financial statements, and reports.
• Ensure cost control and performance tracking; profitability analysis.
• Produce internal and external financial reports, including those for government accountability.
• Establish and maintain internal controls aligned with non-profit best practices.
• Coordinate year-end files and liaise with external auditors.
• Oversee payroll, receivables/payables, and banking reconciliations.
