Financial Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing and developing the accounting team, implementing industry-leading accounting practices, and designing and implementing effective tools and processes to support the company's growth vision and goals:
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, financial reports, special analyses and management information reports.
- Participate in the presentation of month-end files to senior management.
- Collaborate with the Director of FP&A in the analysis of variances between actual and budget.
- Review all month-end balance sheets to ensure accuracy of financial data, including intercompany account reconciliation.
- Approve journal entries, bank reconciliations, commission reports, volume discounts, sales tax reports, and other reports intended for government.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls and compliance for financial accuracy and proper governance, maintaining a solid financial control environment.
- Identify control weaknesses and implement new controls, processes and rigor if necessary.
- Lead and coordinate the interim audit and year-end audit ensuring that the deadlines for the internal and external reporting are met.
- Prepare the audited year-end financial statements and related notes.
- Mentor and set goals for direct reports to improve technical skills, general competencies and promote growth.
- Participate in software implementation/conversion.
- Continue to build and develop a strong, performing team who will take ownership and thrive in the roles defined for them.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Commerce, or Accounting. CPA designation.
- Minimum of five to eight (5-8) years of experience as a controller in a medium-sized company.
- Excellent knowledge of private company accounting standards.
- In-depth experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and accounting with strong exposure to mergers and acquisitions and due diligence.
- Additional experience and knowledge in the field of accounting systems, internal controls, and asset management are essential.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce accurate and timely results in tight deadlines and to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
- An exceptional work ethic and leadership approach that involves rolling up one's sleeves.
- Strong ability to build trust-based relationships with other functions within the company, positioning oneself as a strong financial partner and advisor.
- Exceptional analytical thinking, planning, and priority-setting skills with a strong ability to execute and achieve goals.

- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications.
