Job summary

Hotel SENS in Montréal, QC, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee accounting operations for the hotel group, supporting the General Manager and department heads. The role includes supervision of accounting staff, accounts payable, payroll liaison, and budget development.

You will coordinate across Hotel SENS and Château Versailles properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to corporate procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant hospitality accounting experience.
• Proficiency with Opera software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Fluent French and English communications are essential.

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 annually, based on experience

Reporting to the Regional Director and the General Manager, this position offers a high level of autonomy within a professional setting that encourages growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the General Manager and department heads with financial-related matters as needed
• Train and supervise accounting technicians
• Act as the liaison with the Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator
• Review accounts payable and expense reports and approve payments
• Review negotiated contracts
• Verify billing between the hotel and its tenants
• Validate the posting of daily hotel revenues into the accounting system
• Review and follow up on new customer account requests and accounts receivable collections
• Prepare GST, QST, and lodging tax remittances
• Prepare and document journal entries
• Analyze revenue and expense accounts to explain budget variances
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations (CAD and USD) and reconcile all balance sheet accounts
• Develop the annual budget in collaboration with the General Manager and monitor performance
• Prepare year-end financial files
• Develop and implement internal procedures aligned with head office recommendations

Profile:

• Strong planning and organizational skills to achieve objectives

• Experience in the hospitality industry

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree (required)
