About the role

Our Finance Team (a Finance Director, an Accounts Receivable Specialist, an Accounts Payable Specialist, and a Controller) is looking for a second Controller to complete the team.

In this role, you will be responsible for :

• Participate in the month end closing process : updating tracking schedules, preparing and recording journal entries, preparing financial reports
• Participate in the budgeting process and maintain financial projection models
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual analyses to interpret results and balance sheet items, explaining variances from the previous period and the budget
• Support, coach, and supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable staff
• Participate in the organization and preparation of annual audits
• Supervise the production of all tax returns (Canadian, American, and European) and ensure they are prepared on time
• Support internal financial controls and evaluate established policies and procedures
• Actively participate in process improvement, documentation, and the implementation of new technological solutions
• Take part in special projects such as : grant applications, implementation of new accounting management applications, report preparation, audits, etc.

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience (in public practice and / or industry)
• Proficiency in Excel
• Sense of responsibility, excellent prioritization skills, and ability to manage deadlines
• Attention to detail, excellent analytical and synthesis skills
• Ability to question processes, research, and propose effective solutions
• Excellent ability to work in a team

Assets :

• Knowledge of Quickbooks
• Understanding of the payroll cycle
