Job summary

Pathlion is seeking a Financial Analyst to support financial operations, contract management, project auditing, and cost analysis across government modernization projects in Edmonton. The role involves forecasting, invoicing validation, accruals, and budget updates to ensure accurate reporting and governance compliance.

You will develop cost models, analyze data for trends and risks, and provide data-driven insights to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts, integrating actual results, trends, and projected expenditures.
  • Validate, process, and track vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Prepare and submit monthly accrual entries to support accurate period-end financial reporting.
  • Produce monthly budget updates and contract spend reports, highlighting variances and spending trends.
  • Support governance reporting requirements by preparing accurate, timely financial and operational data.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and accurate financial coding.
  • Prepare and maintain Service Entry Sheets (SES) in SAP Ariba with timely approvals and documentation.
  • Develop, maintain, and update process documentation for financial and contracting workflows.
  • Manage project records in accordance with retention policies and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Develop cost models and conduct cost analyses to support budgeting and decision-making.
  • Analyze historical and forecasted data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare data-driven insights and recommendations for leadership.

Job description

The Citizen Experience Evolution branch within Service Alberta and Red Tape reduction (SARTR) is responsible for managing the budget allocated to modernize Land Titles services, Motor Vehicles, and other registry systems to help ensure that Albertans are receiving timely and efficient services. Our team is seeking the support of a Financial Analyst whom will be responsible for providing comprehensive support across financial operations, contract management, project auditing, and cost analysis activities. This role will provide accurate financial reporting, effective procurement and contract processes, and adherence to governance and compliance standards. The Analyst contributes directly to operational excellence by preparing forecasts, validating financial transactions, maintaining documentation, and developing analytical models that support strategic and operational decision‑making.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Financial Operations Support
  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts, integrating actual results, trends, and projected expenditures.
  • Validate, process, and track vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Prepare and submit monthly accrual entries to support accurate period‑end financial reporting.
  • Produce monthly budget updates and contract spend reports, highlighting variances and spending trends.
  • Support governance reporting requirements by preparing accurate, timely financial and operational data.
2. Contract Management Functions
  • Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and accurate financial coding.
  • Prepare and maintain Service Entry Sheets (SES) in 1GX (SAP Ariba) ensuring timely approvals and accurate documentation of goods and services received.
3. Project Auditing Support
  • Develop, maintain, and update process documentation related to financial and contracting workflows.
  • Manage project records in accordance with corporate records management standards and retention policies.
  • Manage and respond to audit‑related inquiries, information requests, and documentation needs from internal and external stakeholders.
4. Cost Analysis & Modeling
  • Develop cost models and conduct cost analyses to support budgeting, planning, and operational decision‑making.
  • Analyze historical and forecasted data to identify financial trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare clear, data‑driven insights and recommendations for leadership.
