Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Financial Analyst will work cross functionally to support both business valuations and financial planning & analysis (“FP&A”). To support these functions, the Financial Analyst will assist in the review of asset valuations and financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting and provide insights to support strategic initiatives. In addition, the Financial Analyst will leverage their strong accounting fundamentals to collaborate with our financial reporting group on quarterly internal and external reporting mandates.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review process of BEP’s private fund asset valuations, including detailed DCF valuation models, market research and presentation materials;
  • Support BEP’s business planning process by maintaining, updating, and building upon BEP’s corporate model to support strategic decision-making;
  • Review and challenge business plans and valuation models prepared by regional platforms;
  • Analyze historical results, perform comprehensive budget vs. actual variance analyses, and identify meaningful business drivers to support ongoing growth and performance benchmarking
  • Perform discounted cash flow sensitivity and analysis for strategic initiatives;
  • Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting of key operating metrics for management financial forecasting & reporting purposes;
  • Assist with ad hoc analyses for different stakeholders, including investors, rating agencies, sell-side equity and senior management;
  • Work collaboratively with other Brookfield groups to improve and streamline processes, including systematizing process to drive efficiency and increase productivity.

Requirements:

  • Quick learner and ability to build a rapid understanding of the business and business drivers;
  • Solid analytical skills with strong attention to details;
  • Well-organized and ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas and translate them into financial models and analyses;
  • Ability to think independently and be proactive in utilizing internal and external resources to provide meaningful and insightful analyses;
  • Ability to locate and collect data from appropriate sources and analyze it to prepare meaningful and concise reports that summarize the information;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with and build relationships with a diverse group at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work in a team setting; collaborates with team members across the organization;
  • Ability to direct and provide guidance to more junior employees in their daily responsibilities, including supervising, and thoroughly vetting financial model & variance analysis construction.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Business, Finance or a related field;
  • Completed or working towards completion of recognized professional designation(s) (CPA, CFA, CBV);
  • 1-2 years of work experience in finance and/or accounting function;
  • Understanding and familiarity with fund operations and accounting will be considered an asset, along with experience with financial modelling;
  • Demonstrated interest in working with investments through previous work experience, extracurricular, or other personal experiences;
  • Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts (IFRS, GAAP) and financial analysis principles & practice;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (financial modelling) and MS PowerPoint (presentations);
  • Experience with Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, OneStream and other finance systems an asset.
