Job summary

The City of Owen Sound is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Services Supervisor, this position plays a key role in maintaining the City's financial integrity through financial reporting, analysis, budgeting support, treasury functions, business systems support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Two-year college diploma in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial or accounting role.
• Municipal experience is an asset.
• Municipal Tax Administration/ Municipal Administration programs certifications are assets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts, journal entries, payment vouchers, and financial transactions.
• Assist with annual financial statements, year-end working papers, and external audit requirements.
• Maintain and support accounting records for tangible capital assets, including acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to departments across the organization.
• Support compliance with PSAS, GAAP, municipal legislation, and internal controls.
