Thompson Construction Group is looking for a Financial Analyst responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial information to support management decision-making. This role supports month-end and year-end processes, internal financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while maintaining strong working relationships across the organization to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall financial performance.
Responsibilities:
Finance and Department Support
- Participate in scheduled Finance Team meetings to review accounting matters, current initiatives, upcoming priorities, and month-end requirements.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by the Financial Controller.
- Maintain organized, secure, and confidential financial records.
Accounting, Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Develop and maintain advanced working knowledge of the Explorer accounting and payroll systems, including general ledger accounts and reporting functionality.
- Prepare and manage month-end reporting calendars and key financial deadlines.
- Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations for Thompson Construction Group.
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset and long‑term debt schedules.
- Review and reconcile intercompany “due to / due from” balances.
- Perform monthly variance (flux) analysis and reasonability testing of actual results compared to budgets and prior periods.
- Conduct routine financial analysis and reporting in accordance with established accounting practices.
- Capitalize eligible equipment rebuild costs to applicable units.
- Support audits and third‑party accounting initiatives by:
- Coordinating requested documentation,
- Providing variance explanations and financial analysis, and
- Responding to audit and information requests as required.
- Maintain compliance with T5018 reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit monthly GST filings for multiple entities.
- Lead the development and coordination of the corporate budgeting process in collaboration with department leaders.
- Lead quarterly and annual forecasting processes.
- Prepare financial summaries for the Finance Team, including bank balances, accounts payable aging, and accounts receivable aging.
- Create and maintain related‑party entities within the Explorer system.
