Hydro Ottawa is seeking a Finance Officer, Corporate Planning and Reporting to coordinate the company’s integrated planning and performance management framework. The role provides enterprise-wide insights and supports executive and Board decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business analysis, business planning, financial or corporate reporting, performance management, strategy or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance measurement and the use of performance indicators to support strategic decision-making.
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MBA) considered an asset.
  • Experience in team leadership considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate corporate planning and performance reporting deliverables (e.g., quarterly Board reports, Annual Report to the Shareholder, AGM, monthly metrics to the Executive Management Team, and Strategy Sessions).
  • Monitor, analyze, interpret and report corporate performance across monthly, quarterly and annual cycles; identify trends, risks and variances.
  • Lead planning and end-to-end project management of the Annual Report and AGM, including timelines and stakeholder coordination.
  • Validate corporate performance data for accuracy and alignment with frameworks and reporting standards.
  • Develop executive reports and briefing materials summarizing performance trends and strategic progress.

JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Officer, Corporate Planning and Reporting plays a critical role in the coordination and execution of Hydro Ottawa's integrated business planning and performance management framework. The role provides enterprise-wide performance insight and strategic analysis, drives the delivery of corporate planning, performance reporting, and related governance and disclosure activities, and supports executive and Board-level decision-making.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate the coordination, integration and implementation of corporate planning and performance reporting deliverables (i.e. quarterly reports to the Board of Directors, Annual Report to the Shareholder, Annual General Meeting, monthly metric reporting to the Executive Management Team, and Executive Management Team and Board Strategy Sessions).
  • Coordinate the ongoing monitoring, analysis, interpretation and reporting of corporate performance and progress across monthly, quarterly and annual cycles, identifying emerging trends and risks and performance variances.
  • Lead the planning, preparation and end-to-end project management of the Annual Report and Annual General Meeting, including timelines, content integration, quality assurance, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review, analyze, validate and challenge corporate performance data submitted by internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency and alignment with approved performance frameworks and reporting standards.
  • Develop executive-level reports and briefing materials summarizing corporate performance trends, strategic progress and comparative positioning, and synthesizing complex information into clear, decision-oriented materials.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for internal stakeholders on the company's integrated planning and reporting framework.
  • Develop and implement improvements to planning and reporting processes, performance indicators and deliverables.
  • Conduct advanced research and analysis on economic, business, public policy, technological, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) trends, as well as best practices in strategic planning and corporate planning and performance measurement, assessing implications for corporate strategy and performance.
  • Collaborate on the development, implementation and ongoing refinement of formalized ESG reporting frameworks and disclosures, ensuring alignment with emerging standards, best practices and stakeholder expectations.
  • Prepare and validate periodic comparator analyses with utilities in Ontario and elsewhere across Canada for key areas of organizational performance, translating findings into actionable insights for decision-making and business planning.
  • Lead the design, planning and execution of special projects, including defining objectives, managing interdependencies, coordinating contributors and delivering outcomes within established timelines.
  • Oversee and optimize the information repository utilized by the Corporate Planning group, ensuring data integrity, version control and accessibility.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the Corporate Planning group by identifying process improvement opportunities, updating business procedures and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide functional instructions, guidance and knowledge transfer to temporary employees, project contributors and external stakeholders, as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post-secondary education, diploma or degree, in a related field such as Business, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, or Political Science.
