Job summary

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government in Edmonton is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, and to guide financial reporting and compliance. You will lead a small finance team, develop accounting policies, coordinate year-end audits, and partner with senior leadership to forecast budgets and support strategic initiatives.

The role requires confidentiality, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of finance regulations and Métis community needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting, financial management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial role.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and adhere to accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, produce monthly financial statements, and perform period-end closing.
• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll duties as needed.
• Prepare reports, briefing notes, and presentations for CFO and Executive leadership.
• Collaborate with departments to forecast budgets and project work plans with Finance leadership.
• Mentor and lead finance staff, including performance evaluations and staff development.
