Job summary

Nee Tahi Buhn First Nation seeks a Finance Manager to provide strategic financial leadership, strengthen budgeting, reporting, and internal controls, and partner with leadership to safeguard resources.

The role requires hands-on management of day‑to‑day finance operations, collaboration with multiple stakeholders, and effective communication of complex financial information to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• Minimum five years progressive finance experience.
• Minimum two years leadership/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual and long‑term budgeting, financial planning, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Prepare clear financial reports, variance analyses, dashboards, and briefing materials for leadership and funders.
• Provide practical financial advice to support accountability and decision‑making.
• Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations: AP/AR, payroll, GL, purchasing and records.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor funding agreements, reporting deadlines, and eligible expenditures.
• Support funding applications, budgets, claims, and related docs.
• Lead audit preparation, year‑end close, and responses to auditors.
• Identify risks, gaps, and control issues, proposing practical solutions.
• Supervise finance staff and provide training and performance feedback.
• Build financial understanding across the organization for budgets and reports.
