Job summary

SureLine Projects Inc. is seeking a Finance Manager to lead day-to-day finance operations from our Fort St. John office. You will oversee full-cycle accounting, monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls while developing a high-performing finance team.

You will collaborate with operations and project teams to deliver insightful financial reporting, drive process improvements, and support strategic decision-making to enhance profitability and overall business performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience at a Senior Accountant level or in a comparable role.
• Demonstrated full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE, internal controls, and applicable tax requirements.
• Experience with project accounting, job costing, work-in-progress, revenue recognition, billing, and project profitability analysis.
• People leadership experience; payroll knowledge is an asset.
• Experience with Explorer, Aimsio, or comparable construction, project accounting, and reporting systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting analysis.
• Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, including annual financial reporting and working with external accountants.
• Prepare and maintain annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Analyze costs, revenues, margins, expenses, and project or division performance against budget and forecast.
• Lead, mentor, and develop team members supporting accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, and related administrative functions.
• Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback.
• Lead change management initiatives and support the adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for finance and administrative matters.
• Support workforce planning and hiring, cross-train and backfill other finance roles as required.
• Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, learning, quality, and service.
• Build strong working relationships with operations, project teams, and other business partners.
• Lead financial discussions with project managers and operational leaders regarding project profitability.
• Support strategic decision-making by identifying opportunities to improve financial performance and operational effectiveness.
• Promote financial accountability throughout the organization through education, communication, and partnership.
• Oversee project costing, including work-in-progress calculations, revenue recognition, project billing.
• Monitor and report on project profitability, cost performance, and financial trends.
• Partner with project managers and operational leaders to improve project cost visibility and strengthen financial decision-making.
• Monitor collections and receivables and improve billing and collection processes.
